To install the Editor, you will need to use the original Word or Office CD. If you dont see the Equation object in the list, it is because the Equation Editor was not installed when Word was installed (the Editor is an option). To insert an Equation into your Word document, click Insert > Object > Microsoft Equation 3. It can be especially helpful for students who have physical difficulties with pen and pencil, but who are effective computer users.
